Murdoch back

PA Dunedin Keith Murdoch returned to Dunedin yesterday on the first visit to his home city since his expulsion from the All Blacks during the tour of Britain in December, 1972. Mrs E. K. Murdoch, of Ravensboume, confirmed that her son had arrived back for a short visit.

in spite of a Press Association report from Christchurch which quoted Murdoch as saying that he had been back once previously “for a couple of days,” Mrs Murdoch said it was the first time her son had returned to Dunedin since the ill-fated tour to Britain. Mrs Murdoch was unsure how long her son would be staying in Dunedin. It could be “two or three days” and it could be “a week or so,” she said.

Mrs Murdoch was deluged by inquiries from the news media about the return of Murdoch, but she said firmly that her son did not wish to be interviewed.

“He won’t say anything,” said Mrs Murdoch. She added that if he continued to be “hounded” by the news media he could leave earlier than intended. Murdoch, now' 33, has been working on a high dam project at Albany in N.ew South Wales. He has been in Australia since 1973, and Mrs Murdoch said it was likely he would return there after his visit to Dunedin.
