Park hall cost limit advised

A sports hall at Centennial Park should cost a maximum of $750.000 —including architectural and landscaping fees —the City Council’s policy and finance committee said yesterday. It might be possible to help pay for the complex with $300,000 from the cash in lieu of reserves account during 1977-78, but that would depend on there being no overspending from that account this year. It would also mean that no other financial commitments could be made from the account next year.

Additional finance might be available from the sale of council land. In other business, the committee said that $6OOO being held back from the Canterbury Progress League—half of a regular $12,000 annual contribution—could now go to the organisation instead of being held by the council for public relations purposes.
