Chimney fires put out

The Rangiora Volunteer Fire Brigade put out two chimney fires yesterday. The brigade was called to the first fire, on the property of Mr A. B. Townshend, of 20 Ayres Street, Rangiora, at 9.40 a.m. In the afternoon the brigade was called to the house of Mr J. A. Collie, of Marshmans Road, Ashley. The fires caused little damage to property and were quickly put out.

St John grant—s2so was given to the Rangiora subcentre of the St John Ambulance Association by the council to help buy a rescue unit.
