Evelyn’s Choice speedy
Special corres. Wanganui Evelyn’s Choice, best known as a most promising hurdler, showed that he is no slug on the flat in training at Wanganui yesterday morning. He gave a solid display over a round as he prepared for tomorrow’s Waverley Cup. Also present was his brother, Viv’s Choice, which is listed for the Waverley Stakes for three-year-olds.
Trials took place on the No. 1 grass with the pegs out three metres. The track was firm.
Evelyn’s Choice ran strongly and evenly over a round, coming from the 1200 m in Imin 19.8 sec, the last 600 in 40sec. A top-flight hurdler earlier this year, he lias since run respectable races on the flat.
Viv’s Choice hinted a promising career by reeling off 1200 m in Imin 15sec. He registered 37.55ec for each 600 m section. Amber Rose was impressive in her final trial for the Newland Handicap with a very nippy 800. Accompanied by Betty’s Call, she recorded 49sec, the last 600 taking 37.55ec. A Waverley Stakes runner, Fashion Lover, appreciated the firm going by running 1200 m in Imin 15sec.
