Family man stabbed
PA Blenheim The police arrested a youth last night after the death of a young man from stab wounds in his home in Blenheim late yesterday morning. The youth will be charged this morning in the Blenheim Magistrate's Court with murder. The young man died from wounds suffered in a scuffle with an intruder who was disturbed in his house about 11 a.m. yesterday. He was BERNARD ROBIN HINDRIKSE, aged 22. an oil
company sales representative, married, with an infant child, of Carveil Street, Blenheim. Mr Hindrikse. his wife and baby, and his wife’s ~ nine-year-old sister and mother, returned home from Picton just after 11 yesterday morning. AU but Mr Hindrikse went into the house, where they disturbed an intruder. Mrs Hindrikse’s mother, Mrs Margaret Joy White, aged 44, of Paremoremo, struggled with the intruder and suffered cuts to her hands. Mr Hindrikse then en-
tered the house, and confronted the intruder at the back door. He was stabbed twice, once In the abdomen and once in the chest. The Intruder made off. Mr Hindrikse tried to chase him, but came back to the front of the house and collapsed. He was taken to Wairau Hospital, but was dead on arrival. No weapon has been found yet, according to the Blenheim police, who are being helped by detectives from Wellington and Nelson.
