Set in tranquil surroundings on a hill overlooking] the lake, the $275,000 pro-j petty will be put up for salei on December 8. The furniture in the home/ where the Cole family entertained a succession of prominent people visiting New Zealand, will also be sold by auction. Moose Lodge was the] main asset of the Cole estate. according to a spokesman for the Auckland legal firm handling the estate. The property was being realised 1 to protect the trustees, the spokesman said. The Government has been: advised of the intention to] sell the property, but hopes of a Government sale were] dispelled earlier this year by the Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon).
Moose Ledge was chosen as a rest residence for the Queen and Prince Philip when they visited the Bay of Plenty in 1954. Prince Charles and Princess Anne stayed there in 1970.
