Veteran of the field but

racing as well as ever. Won two starts back over 2200 m at Paeroa. and ran on mean •title when fourth behind ’roud Sovereign, over 2200 m at Avondale. In that form hag to be respected. W. Robinson 4 1413 HUDU (13) 54. Beaten narrowly last time after pacemaking over 2200 m at Avondale. Successful previously over 2200 m at New Plymouth. Likes to race in front and almost certain to be very prominent. J. Grylls 5 7*05 PREPAK (5) 53.5. Not long back from a spell and likely to have been Improved by recent runs. Made some ground last start behind I Proud Sovereign at Avondale. Represents good class and has won on this track. D. Peake * 54*4 KAUERE LAO (8) 51. flood at his best but has failed to come up to the | high peak of form he reached tn late winter last year. S. Autridge 7 7511 BOLD BEN (V) 40. Good winner In last two starts over 2200 m at Ellerslie and over 2000 m at Trentliam and has evidently improved. Has the pace to keep up near the front and seems adept in hcavv ground. • 07*4 FAIR MONTANA (*) 47.5. Managed a fair fourth last start to Happy William over 2200 m at Paeroa, but form all round not greatly

encouraging. Hard to allow much chance.

B Compton * OU* DONCAST (10) 47. Looked pretty promising a season or two back through intermediate grades but out of form for too long to be rated a chance here. 10 1210 GEORGE (1) 47. Ended a run of good form when a well beaten tenth last start over 2200 m behind Bold Ben at Ellerslie. Won his start

iH'&’ie on the same course and distance K. Reggett 11 5700 GUN POWER (7) 4*. Showed ability a year or two back, but latest form nothing to enthuse over. Finished eleventh of 20 last

start behind Optician over 1600 m at Ellerslie. Unlikely to improve at this distance. ” 7WC SOBIESKI (12) 47. Came

I buck after a spoil when a well beaten eleventh over 1600 m at Avondale. Probably Improved with the run but could be expected to need another one or two. 13 6800 SO SOFTLY (11) 47. Failed to make any impression last time over 2000 m at Avondale in first race since June. Prospects, on latest form, seem dim. 3 5 p.m.—

TRELAWNEY HANDICAP $3000; 1200 m. 1 6182 GAY TIPLER (6) 55. Recent form pretty sound. Handles heavy ground well. Should have conditions to suit.

S. Autridge 2 6611 SUNN AL (•) 54.5. Capable. of a fast 1200 but rn. first race since December has to be taken on trust.

3 0700 CREAM PUFF (10) 52.5. In first race since last autumn is hard to fancy much.

P. Maka 4 3924 HI SURGE (2) 51. Back in useful form. Handles heavy ground better than most.

T. Williams 5 7214 KERENADER (5) 51. In good form at New Plymouth last month. Looks a place chance at least. 6 5124 POLAR ROUTE (9) 51. Developed good middledistance form last summer and autumn. Worth watching but will probably need more racing and firmer footing. 7 0451 YALUMBA (11) 51. Has won three times on this track but hard to fancy in first start since November. Likely to be outraged. 8 0700 LORD MARBET (4) 51. Has produced some of his best form on this track but efforts late last season were disappointing. Could have fresnenea 2m d worth watching. K. Reggeff 9 5506 CENTRE POINT (1) 49.5. Has enough pace but latest form not Inspiring. B. Compton 10 400 HENTON OAK (7) 49.5.

Has looked likely to do best at a middle distance rather than as a sprinter. In first race since April Is hard to fancy. 11 8059 PRINCE NOVELLO (3) 49 5. Handles heavy ground well and at best would be one to beat. Disappointing, though, at latest attempts.
