Denial by Fraser
NZPA Canberra In the House of Representatives. the Australian Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) has moved to kill the renewed speculation about a possible devaluation of the Australian dollar. Mr Fraser told the House that there had been no shift in the Government’s attitude towards devaluation, and he denied a report that the Minister of Industry (Mr Douglas Anthony) had cast doubt on the strength of the dollar. Mr Anthony himself told the House that the report, In today’s “Sj’dney Morning Herald” was “a piece of mischievous reporting to try to make trouble w’hen it was completely unnecessary.”
