Road works at Carlton bridge

Traffic using Carlton Mill comer, by the Harper Ave bridge, will be disrupted during the next few days while a storm-water pipe is laid across Carlton Mill Road into ( the Avon.

The job. which will take several days, will begin at •9 a.m. today, once the peak

of commuter traffic has passed. The pipe will run from the north side of Carlton Mill Road — about 9m west of the intersection — to under the Carlton bridge itself. The 2m trench will be dug in sections and the roadway will be restricted until the job is completed.

The trench will be started on the over side of the road, and by Saturday, is expected to have reached the north side, when the free turn into Bealey Avenue from Carlton Mill Road will be closed off.

The pipe-laying, being done for the Christchurch City Council by British Pavements (Canty), Ltd, is part of the development of the Carlton Mill comer.
