Swim records tumble
The breaking of five records set by the Olympic Games competitor. Lynne Rowe, was an indication of the continuing rise in standard at the Wharenui Swimming Club’s “Winter Olympics.”
Four sessions of frenzied competition at Wharenui’s Coronation pool produced 31 individual and 13 relay records, with one other mark equalled.
Rickie Binning (Wharenui) had a memorable meeting: she set five new marks in the 12-year-old girls’ section. Tracy Turnbull and Jill
Clarke each broke three records, and Sandra Tully broke two records and equalled another. All these girls are members of the host club.
