Strong support
A record entry of 56 teams (four players to a team) has been received for the South Island Working Men’s Clubs’ annual table tennis tournament in Oamaru on September 25.
Teams from Runanga to Invercargill have entered and Christchurch has a strong representation with 10 clubs competing. As well as the A, B, C, and D grade events for men, there will be an official competition for women.
Hoon Hay, which has already won the Christchurch competition, will be favourite for the A grade title. It will be led by the South Island open champion, Wayne Adamson, and has three other
seasoned campaigners in Lynn Saunders, Steve Andrews and Les Ball.
The championships are to be held in Christchurch next year
