Govt has no word on Rhodesians

PA Wellington The Government still has had no indication of a plan — involving the United States, Britain, Australia and New Zealand — to provide money for white Rhodesians wanting to flee their country in the event of majority rule. The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) said last night at a press conference that all the Cabinet knew about the proposal was what had been in the newspapers.

He said that checks with New Zealand posts overseas had given no fresh information on the reported plan.

There have been widelyreported suggestions that the United States Secretary of State (Dr Kissinger) is trying to “sell” African leaders and the Smith Government on such a plan as part of his efforts to seek a peaceful solution to the problems in Southern Africa.
