Rugby team remembers Wadsworth
One of the most warming gestures to have been made since the appeal was opened for a fund for the family of the New Zealand test cricketer Ken Wadsworth, came from members of the Southland rugby football team. The team completed a three-match South Island tour at Christchurch on Saturday. From their personal fund, the players and manager contributed $5O to the Wadsworth testimonial fund. It took the total to $2418. Since Friday, there has been an increase in contributions from the North Island, particularly Auckland. There was a cheque for $25 from the Porewa Cricket Club in Marton.
The Canterbury Women’s Cricket Association has donated $2O.
Contributions may be sent to Box 1005, Christchurch, or left at “The Press” office.
