The courses
The four stages in the South Island zone, starting tomorrow, are: Wednesday: Waiau River, from Spotswood to the Hope River Junction. First boat away 10 a.m. Thursday: Buller River, from Westport to Lyell, 9 a.m., and Grey River, from Ikamatua to Greymouth, 2.30 p.m.
Friday: Taramakau River, from the main road bridge just south of Greymouth to the Stanley Goosman Bridge near Jacksons. 9.30 a.m., and a Le Mans start race on Lake Brunner, 2 p.m. Saturday: Waimakariri River, from Mt White bridge neat Cass, 9.30 a.m., to the Pacific Ocean.
