Opening day
The programme for the official opening on Saturday 13: 11.20 a.m.—The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) and Mrs Muldoon arrive from Auckland and are met by the chairman of the Waimairi County Council (Mr D. B. Rich). They will have refreshments and luncheon at the Russley Hotel with Mr Rich and county councillors. 1.15 p.m.—Party will proceed to the centre where they will be entertained by the Salvation Army Band, then attend an interdenominational church service. 2.30 p.m.—Official opening by Mr Muldoon. 4.50 p.m.—Mr and Mrs Muldoon leave for Auckland.
