The Board serves an expanding population of some 120,000 of which about half I live in the greater Invercargill area. Territorially, the Board provides services for a wide area, including the great lake and mountain recreation areas around Lakes Manapouri. Te Anau and Wakatipu. The base hospital is Southland Hospital, Invercargill, which has at present 360 beds and provides a comprehensive range of services. Considerable expansion is expected within the next few years and current buildings include a 90 bed Obstetric Unit and other services. A well equipped X-ray Department completed tn 1969 will provide the successful applicant with good working conditions. The Department employs four Radiologists and one Registrar and there is a small school of Radiology attached to the Department. Gore Hospital. 40 miles from Invercargill, has 100 beds, and significant additions have recently been completed to the X-ray Department of this HospitaL Salary and conditions of Employment are in accord ance with the N.Z.
