Barnes wins match play

NZPA-Reuter Birmingham Brian Barnes won the British match play golf championship at Kings Norton, near Birmingham, yesterday beating his fellow Briton, Craig Defoy, 4 and 3 in the 18 holes final. In the semi-fignals: Defoy beat John O’Leary (Ireland) by one hole and Barnes beat Simon Hobday (Rhodesia) 4 and 2.
