The industrial scene
Sir, — It seems many people are terrified by the growing trend towards socialism. This week we have heard Mr Muldoon harp about the strength of trade unions. He says the country will be ruled by Parliament and not
the Cooks and Stewards. What this really means is that the country will be ruled by Cabinet, chosen by Mr Muldoon, and the working man will have no right of appeal until the next General Election. Mr Muldoon realises that he has already pushed the worker too far and h s accelerated the socialist revolution beyond the planning of even the most optimistic socialist. The capitalists are terrified, as well they may be, for it will be very painful both mentally and economically for them to adjust to the social reforms which will give the people the power of government. The first of these reforms, which we should see within the next 10 years, will be abolition of all private land ownership. This will enable the people to overcome the monstrous capitalistcaused inflation, and will enable the workers to concentrate on production instead of
worrying about mortgage repayments to land-shark city developers. — Yours, etc., JOSEPHINE A. HART. September 4, 1976.
