Southland beats North Auck.
PA Whangarei With loose forwards Lester Rutledge and Ashley McGregor in top form, Southland defeated North Auckland, 15-9, in a first division national provincial rugby match yesterday. Rutledge was rewarded for his efforts with a try. halfway through the second spell which took Southland to a 10-9 lead after it had trailed North Auckland 6-9 at halftime.
Scorers, for Southland. Rutledge and McGregor, tries, Geoff Valii, two conversions and a penalty. For North Auckland. Murray Dyer, a try, Brian McCarr,ol, a conversion and a penalty goal.
