Attack on woman

PA Auckland Auckland detectives are looking for a Very fat Samoan man who is said to have attacked a woman in Greys Avenue on Sunday evening and tried to stifle her cries by wrapping his lavalava round her head.

The woman, also a Samoan, was walking down Greys Avenue about 9 p.m. when a car cruised slowly by and the driver engaged her in conversation.

Near the Greys Avenue synagogue, he drove up on to a driveway on the side of the road, stopped the car, got out, and lifted up the bonnet. He continued his conversation with the woman when she came by. Distracting her attention during the conversation, the man suddenly grabbed her by the throat and dragged her into a nearby lane. The woman screamed and struggled. The man removed his lavalava from round his waist and wrapped it round her head.

When the woman quietened the . lavalava was removed from her head, but as soon as her assailant relaxed his grip she ran off.

Her jeans and dress top were tom in the struggle, but she was unhurt.
