Average air pollution readings in central Christchurch, taken by the Health Department at the Reserve Bank building for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m.. yesterday, w ere, Smoke, 34, low. Sulphur dioxide: 72, medium. Nitrogen oxides: 132, medium. The figures for the inner suburban area for the same period were;
Smoke: 57, medium. Sulphur dioxide: 14, low. Nitrogen oxides: 82, low. Readings are in micrograms per cubic metre. Levels are:— Smoke: less than 40, low; more than 120, high. Sulphur dioxide: less than 60, low; more than 200, high. Nitrogen oxides: less than 100, low; more than 250, high.
