Tikumu’s letter
For young readers
Dear children, I hope you have fun with magic these holidays. However, if you wish to be a good magician, remember these rules: Follow the directions of the trick carefully and practise it before trying it out on others.
Do not tell your audience the secret of the trick. When they find out how simple it is, they will lose interest in the rest of your magic show. Do not repeat the same trick twice before the same person. On the second occasion he or she will be watching most carefully and may discover its secret.
Talk while you perform your trick and be modest when it is successful.
Above all, never forget that a magician must know how to lead his audience away from actions he does not wish them to see. He must make them look for the secret of his trick in the wrong place so that they do not notice that he is fooling them in another place.
Good luck with your magic.
