Greyhounds for Coast

Staff reporter

Greymouth

A steering committee of eight has been formed to make initial moves towards the establishment of a greyhound racing club on the West. Coast.

A spokesman for the committee (Mr S. G. Gladstone) told “The Press” that persons interested in greyhound racing from the Greymouth and Hokitika areas had met and agreed that a single club should be formed. The committee, he said, had found encouragement from the Greymouth Trotting Club, and the Central Oval of Victoria Park Raceway was the proposed site for the greyhound track. Members of the committee were now working towards establishing boxes, and had the, support of Canterbury owners, who had assured them of assistance and dogs for events.
