S.A. plans for Namibia condemned
NZPA-Reuter Lusaka ! Proposals for an interim [government to be formed in 'Namibia (South-West Africa) I have been condemned by !black African nationalists fighting against South African rule in the territory, and; a senior United Nations; official has described them: as an attempt to set up “a; Quisling government” there. A spokesman for! S.W.A.P.O. (South-West African People’s Organisation). the leading African' nationalist movement in Namibia, said in Lusaka, Zambia: “If an interim government was formed, we would escalate the battle on all fronts. economically, diplomatically 7, and militarily.”
Mr Sean Macßride, the [United Nations High Com(missioner for Namibia, (joined in condemning the proposals by the multi-racial (conference meeting in Wind'hoek. capital of the territory.
The conference set December 31, 1978, as the target [date for independence, and said an interim government would be established.
