O’ Farrell hearing sei for October 17

The Town and Country Planning Appeal Board's hearing on the development of some of Mr Gerald O’Farrell’s property at Allandale, which was adjourned with an interim decision in June, is to be reconvened on October 17. The Number Two board initially heard the matter in February and issued an interim decision on June 4. which was in favour of the planned development of 170 acres of rural land at Al-

landale, at the head of Lyttelton Harbour. In allowing the appeal, the board stated that it was basically in agreement with an environmental study produced in evidence. It said that the study contained enough information to formulate a draft zone for the proposed area of development and directed such a draft to be prepared. The draft was completed some time ago by Mr O’Farrell’s advisers and a

copy was given to the Mount Herbert County Council. In its decision, the board said that the appeal stood adjourned pending the formulation of the zone. The case has now been set down again for October 17 when further submissions may be made in relation to that zone. A final decision will be given after the hearing has been completed this second time.
