New Zealand’s young skaters made a promising start in the track events at the Pacific roller skating championships in Brisbane. The young Palmerston North skater. Brian Carwell-Cooke. outsprinted two Australians to win the 500 m time trial in 69.45ec. Robert Green. from Hawke's Bay, finished third over 10,000 m and the experienced international from Hastings, Christine Rowe, won the 3000 m.
