Swimmers miss finals
NZPA Philadelphia New Zealand swimmers failed to make the main finals of their events during the last two days of the United States Amateur Athletic Union national swimming championships at Philadelphia. The best New Zealand performance on Friday night came from Lynne Rowe whoj finished second in the conso-i lation final of the 200 m women’s butterfly with a time lof 2 min 18.34 sec. Monique (Rodahl was third in the consolation final of the 100 m : (women’s backstroke, whenp [her time of 67.53 sec wasp [slightly slower than her heats I' | performance of 67.27 sec. On Saturday night. RebeccaPerrott was the only Newh Zealander to go beyond the I heats. She had the twelfth fastest time of 59,29 sec inji the 100 m women’s freestyle : heats and finished fourth in I' the consolation final with a|' time of 58.95 sec. i<
