Smoke: 40, low. Sulphur dioxide: 52, low. Nitrogen oxides: 185, medium. Average readings in the inner suburbs in the same period were: Smoke: 67 medium. Sulphur dioxide: 27, low. Nitrogen oxides: 95. low. Readings are in micrograms per cubic metre. Levels are: Smoke less than 40, low; more than 120, high. Sulphur dioxide: less than 60, low; more than 200, high. Nitrogen oxides: less than 100, low; more than 250 b high.
