Jiminy Cricket’s hopes rest on a poor performance by the American boat Resolute Salmon., which was leading the over-all standings after the first four races. By mid-morning yesterday less than half the field had finished, with the rest beclamed Thre was no sign of Resolute Salmon, which must come in at least 24 places behind Jlmin Cricket if the New Zealand yacht, skippered by her owner S. J. Brentnall, is to win. The other New Zealand entry. 45 South, which was in fourtl place over-all at the start of th< 325-mlle offshore final race, va lying in eighteenth place, uel ahead of Resolute Salmon. Skippered by G. A. Woodruffi she had to beat Resolute Sa' mon home by at least se-e places to stand a chance of wii nlng the cup.
