Position No. 634: ARCHITECTURAL HISTORIAN. or an , ARCHITECT with a speciality in an area of History of Architecture: to take charge and co- ■ ordinate all History courses in the teaching programme. Position No. 635: ARCHITECT with a speciality in either Architectural Method and Design, or interior Architecture. Urban Design, Architectural Psychology, and a small segment of History of Architecture. Position No. 636: ARCHITECT or BUILDING GRADUATE with a speciality in either Architectural Method and Design, Landscape Design, or Construction Technology, Building Services, Construction Manage- j ment, and a small segment of History of Architecture. Appointees will be expected to participate in | the work of the School in general, to co-ordinate part-time specialist lecturers, and to assume responsibility for the development and teaching of subjects, tutorial work, and laboratory work in the 8.8.5 c. and B.Arch. courses. Appointees will also be expected to carry out a limited amount of consulting work, or private practice, or research work. Applicants must have professional and academic experience, preferably a higher degree, or be willing to work towards obtaining a higher degree on a part-time basis within the first term of appointment. TBhe task of establishing new courses calls for versatile personalities who are prepared to participate in the full integration of all subjects of the teaching programme. The University is anxious that New Zealand appointees take up their duties in January, 1978. Applicants should name only referees who have agreed to act as such, and who are available during the period of enquiry (October-November). Applicants should specify ’ the position(s) being applied for. Academic salary levels are comparable with those in private practice and in the Government service, and relate appropriately to the cost of living in New Zealand. Appointments will be made in the range of $8674 to $13,658 per annum (see scales below). LECTURESHIP IN UNIVERSITY EXTENSION (VISUAL ARTS) The appointment is in the visual arts field of extension studies. The appointment will be made either with normal tenure or with limited tenure (minimum three years). Applicants should state whether they would be prepared to accept a limited term appointment. Preference wil be given to applicants with good degrees or their equivalent and who are competent teachers as well as being able to plan and administer courses in the visual arts. The Department at present offers courses in history, appreciation and practice in drawing, painting, print-making, film-making, sculpture (in plastics) and pottery. Some experience of New Zealand conditions would be desirable. Enquiries concerning the nature of the position may be made direct to Mr K. M. Bennett. Director of University Extension. The salary range for Senior Lecturers is $10,529 to $12,245 per annum where there is a bar, then $12,597 to $13,293 per annum, for Lecturers, $8309 to $10,360 per annum.
