Gang member denies assault
A young man at a party in a flat in Olliviers Road was dragged outside and was kicked a number of tim *s while he was on the ground in a vicious and cowardly manner by members of a motor-cycle gang. Mr Justice Somers and a jury were told in the Supreme Court yesterday Warner Richard Scott, aged 20. a glass worker, hapleaded not guilty to a charge of assaulting Gavin Wayne Hill with intent to injure on April 3. The trial will finish today. Mr D. J. L. Saunders ap pears for the Crown and Mr X. R. W. Davidson for . Scott. Opening his case. Mri i Saunders said that on the evening of April 3 a group of 'motor-cyclists arrived at a party at a tlat in Olliviers Road. It was attended by Gavin Wayne Hill and his girlfriend. Christine Hickey. Mr Hill was -peaking to one of the motor-cyclists. Alan Morgan, when there whs an argument and Mr Hill was knocked to the ground by Morgan A short time later Mr ■ Hill was asked to step out- ! side. He refused and was dragged out by Morgan and another motor-cyclist. Mr Hill was thrown face down on the lawn and several mem- • bers of the motor-cycle gang set about him in a cowardly ' attack in which the boot was administered to various parts of his body in a vicious manner for about half a ■ minute Scott was one of those who kicked Mr Hill and then [Scott and his friends made off. leaving their victim bruised and bleeding on the ground.
