Schofield sales fall
PA Auckland The decline in motor sales by Schofield Holdings, Ltd, had been more than offset by an improved result from the manufacturing subsidiary. Kerrick Distributors, Ltd, resulting in the higher profit of $342,382 earned by the company, the chairman of Schofield (Mr D. H. Steen) said at the annual meeting. The new regulations requiring cash for new cars, and higher deposits on used cars, had resulted in the marked fall in current sales. It remained to be seen if the introduction of the new Chevette and Gemini models would reverse this trend, he said. These new cars would give the company a complete range to take its share of the available market, but over all the total market was likely to be smaller.
