Progress of blocks
The sort of pattern of development of Glenbourne farm settlement near Waiau was typical of that on other nessella tussock blocks held by the Lands and Survey Department, the district field officer of the department, Mr G. A. Greig, said this week. According to a department publication, it has 10,480 hectares of nassella country in five blocks in North Canterbu.y under development for ultimate subdivision and settlement. They could eventually provide about 22 farms. Some of the land has been handed over to the Forest Service.
Since June, 1962, stock carried has increased from 9886 sheep and 607 cattle to 54,614 sheep and 3360 cattle at June 30 last year, and wool production has gone up from 68,670 kilograms to 230,132 kilograms.
