Bad news for goalie

PA Wellington The news for the Olympic hockey player, Trevor Manning, yesterday morning was bleak.

After visiting a Wellington orthopaedic surgeon, he was told his kneecap might have to be removed and he may never play hockey again. Today he will go to hospital for an operation and will remain there for four to fifteen days. The kneecap was broken in the Olympic final against Australia when Manning saved an Australian penalty comer shot travelling at a speed of around 100 m.p.h.
