Life saving award for Elmsley
Graham Elmsley, a prominent member of the Sumner club and one of the people foremost in the “nipper” surf life saving movement in Canterbury, is that sport’s "Sportsman of the Year.” Elmsley, who is at present overseas, was last evening named the recipient of the Tim Sutherland Trophy at the Canterbury Surf Life Saving Association’s annual meeting and dinner.
The citation paid tribute to Elmsley’s work as a former secretary, chief instructor and association delegate of his club, and as a member of the association’s patrol committee and convener of its “nipper” committee.
