Wainoni family centre
The Christchurch City Council is close to a decision to build a family centre in Wainoni Park. Funds available for the project already total $48,100, and a Christchurch builder, Mr R. G. Mauger, has offered to build the centre at cost. The Wainoni - Aranui Family Centre Committee has raised $lOOO of the cost, and plans to hold more fund-raising projects. The parks and recreation committee will be asked to approve location of the building in the same area as the Wainoni adventure playground and the new youth activities centre, which is expected to be finished in a month. The council is considering a proposal to convert the Waltham school hall into a community centre.
