Waikato in late win
PA Hamilton Waikato came from 0-9 down at half-time to beat North Auckland 12-9 in 'a representative rugby match on a wet and muddy ground at Hamilton on Tuesday.
The early stages of the match were played in rain and the ball became tricky to handle at times. North Auckland was distinctly the better all-round side for most of the first'half but shortly before half-time there were signs that Waikato was to play a bigger part. All Waikato’s points were scored by the first fiveeighths, Andy Baker, who scored a try and kicked the conversion, plus two penalties.
For North Auckland Brian McCarroll kicked a penaltygoal and converted a try scored by winger Mike Gunson.
