Big saving in transport

The saving In transport costs for the new South Island beer distribution will bring about a reduction in the price of DB packaged beers, says Mr W. S. Otto, general manager and director of Dominion Brewieries, Ltd, and chairman of directors of the DB (South Island) Brewery, Ltd. Mr Otto said that be-

cause of the rising cost of transport of beer from Auckland it had been necessary to build the new brewery and to have it working by this month so that enough DB products would be available to the South Island market for the 1976-77 summer. “Ever-increasing costs of building an imported and locally-manufactured plant

has raised the total cost of the brewery at Washdyke to just over SI2M,” Mr Otto said. "This includes the tankers and other vehicles, staff houses for senior executives and sundry operating equipment." When thanking all concerned with the completion of the brewery — the directors, Becca Carter

Hoilings and Ferner. Ltd, the consulting engineers and project supervisors, C. Lund and Company, Ltd. the main building contractors. suppliers of plant and equipment and subcontractors — Mr Otto said that adherence to the specified time schedule of 18 months was a great credit to all.
