Cloudy Lease runs well

Hastings track yesterday morning. A heavy overnight frost made the track firm. Most of the fast work was carried out on the plough which was in good order. Cloudy Lease, (Frethey) was bowling along nicely over 800 m on the plough. He was never at top speed yet ran the last 600 m in a creditable 38.9 sec. The five-year-old gelding 1 pulled up extra well after| the workout and must be a; place chance in the Springvale Handicap, first leg at; Hastings on Saturday. Meduno (Tellema) and Accurate (Aiderman) continued their preparation for the Springvale Handicap with a circuit on the plough. He was a last start (sixth in the prestigious ' Ryder Stakes at Levin so his j chances against much weaker company on Saturday, must be good. Gunlock (Julius) was doing better than Tariana (Jones) at the finish of their 1200 m on the plough. They ran the distance at a good clip taking Imin 18.6 sec, the last 800 m was timed at 53.25ec.
