Two seek gold stars

Two skips close to earning centre gold stars are likely to be strong contenders for the Canterbury indoor bowls triples title, which will be decided this week-end.

One is the defending champion, Trevor Austin, whose No. 2, Jack Burrows. achieved the fifth win required for a gold star when he played for

Austin in the event last year.

Austin has four titles to his credit, as also has l_eon McLennan, who, of the pair, has drawn the tougher section. The tournament has attracted 160 teams and after the section rounds on Saturday there will be about 56 left to continue on Sunday.
