Knife used in school fight
PA Wellington A knife was used in a lunch-time brawl at Hutt Valley High School yesterday, and two pupils were injured. The pupils, both boys, were taken to Hutt Hospital, but were not admitted. Detective Inspector D. A. Duffy', head of the Lower Hutt C. 1.8., last night confirmed that a knife was used in the incident. “Detectives are investigating, and that’s all I can say at this stage,” he said. The school's principal
(Mr I. R. McLean) said he had no comment to make, other than that there had been an incident involving two pupils and two nonpupils. A pupil who saw the fight said two outsiders came into the school at lunch-time, and confronted two pupils in a classroom. She said a knife was used, and both pupils were taken to hospital by a teacher, who stopped the fight. The attack was apparently in retaliation for an incident on Saturday night.
