New rules for Eyre County small blocks
Owners of small rural, blocks in the Eyre County; will no longer be automatic-] ally entitled to a building permit for them. At a special meeting yesterday, the council adopted an interim rural zone as part of its draft scheme. This will control rural-land use until the permanent rural-zone pattern is decided. Previously, owners of small rural blocks were assured, as; of right, of being able to build a house for their own: use. Under the interim regu-[ lation, the building of a house in the rural zone will be per-: mitted as an accessory to an
.(existing independent farm Junit; and present, owners of; ismall rural plots will be en-' titled to one building permit. I for a house on one plot. i The council is advertising ■ its interim-zoning measure i with a recommendation that : persons contemplating buyI ing rural land with the hope ! of building a house on it : should inquire from the county office about the possi--I bility of a building permit. :: Some persons owned sevi eral small rural plots in the ilcounty, said the County Clerk ■i(Mr L. P. Southen) after the !'meeting. These owners would ■inow be entitled to build only Hon one of them for their own
i[use. Any future buyer would!I [not be issued automatically!! ■'with a building permit. || The measure had been ia-ij [t reduced as an interim regu- | ; hation until the district!; ![scheme came into effect to ; : stop the fragmentation of ; ■ productive rural land for ; : semi-urban use, said Mr; Southen. ■ The council intends, how- > ■ever, to designate one or two I areas where closer rural sub- ! [division will be allowed to ! i cater for persons who want,! Presidential blocks larger' ■ [than normal, but special conliditions would be drafted to r [control th® use of such areas, 11said Mr Southen.
