New flats for aged
The Waimairi County Council plans to raise a loan (of $126,000 to build 36 flats I for siderly people in Breens I Road, Burnside. A further 10 flats are to be built later in Barnes Road, Northcote. The new flats will bring to 269 the number of housing i units for the elderly which the council has built in the] last 12 years. Tenders for the Breens! Road fiats are likely to be! called before the end of this! year, anri the council hopes', they wii! be built within 18 months. The county chairman (Mr D. B. Rich) says that the new flats will help to reduce ' a housing waiting list of •about 300 elderly people. I
