Freight to Europe goes up

PA Wellington. | ‘ Freight rates for noncontract cargo from New ’ Zealand to Europe will rise 15 per cent on October 1. , The increase, announced by the New Zealand European Shipping Association, will not apply to contract rates for meat and dairy products. Cargoes which will face the higher rates include exports of seeds, tallow, peas and casings. The 15 per cent rise compares with a 20 per cent freight rate increase last year. The higher rates will affect about 20 per cent of New Zealand’s exports to Britain Continental and Mediterranean countries. !
