Rally recovers losses
Prices firmed in the afternoon trading session on Australian stock exchanges yesterday, cancelling-out most of the losses which occurred earlier. However, selected sectors on the mining boards were noticeably weaker; coals and golds fell into this category. Base-metal stock were mixed, and coppers moved ahead, but iron ore miners, which led the upswing on Friday, failed to hang on to all of their previous gains. B.H.P. recovered two cents at 832 c and the Bank of N.S.W, was 6c higher at 586 c. SYDNEY SALES Industrials.—Amatil, 186; Ampul, 71; Ansett, 117; A.W.A., 100; Assoc.
