Flooding in Britain
PA-Reuter London. Thunderstorms , lashed southern England last week, bringing a temporary respite to Britain’s heatwave and a rash of floods in homes and on roads around London. The storms brought the first rain in more than a month to some parched areas. More than an inch fell on the south coast over night, and at Thorney Island, a quarter of an inch was recorded in four minutes. Weather forecasters said the rains would continue, but the downpour would do little to ease Britain’s drought unless it was sustained.
