Teams bowls won by Dunstan

Len Dunstan (Arawa) took the Canterbury Indoor Bowls Association’s Bradley Cup for club teams when he beat Lloyd Bellis (Spreydon School), 13-11, in a closely contested final yesterday. Dunstan started confidently with a single and a three on ithe first two ends but conceded a single on the next Sand looked in danger of ani other four on the fourth until Ihe went into the head. At the half-way stage, Dunstan was further ahead at 9-1 and looked unbeatable but Bellis came back strongly and reduced the leeway to one (8-9) after three more ends. However Dunstan’s team all drew well on the tenth and Bellis could only reply to this perfect score of four with a single and a two on the last two ends. Dunstan beat Maurice Berkeley, 9-6, in a semi-final of seven ends but Bellis had a far easier path to the final, beating Mrs Iris Gale. 14-2. in a one-sided affair.
