Two trainers fined $25
PA Timaru. Wrongfully nominating and accepting horses cost both Mrs G. R. Gullery and A. W. Cousins 525 at the Waimate District Hunt meeting on Saturday. The Pines, which is trained by Mrs Gullery. was a late scratching from the Rattrav Steeplechase when it was found that the horse was not a qualified hunter. The judicial committee was told that at the time of nomination Mrs Gullery did not have the club’s programme and was not aware that the race was for qualified hunters. Cousins was found to have accepted Robbie, a class 5 horse. In the Waihao Handicap for class 3 and 4 horses The committee took into account that M-s Gullery had onlv held a public licence for 12 months and that Cousins had onlv recently obtained his licence. L. J. Molloy, the rider of Tantallon tn the Publicans’ Handicap. was fined $36 for weighing In tkg over his weigh-out weight and B. Laking. the '-‘der of Our Charles in the Waihao Handican was fined $25 for the same offence W M. Berry, the rider of Flasher in the' Cochrane Handicap. was fined $25 for falling to weigh in for fifth place. Willie Knows was destroyed after fracturing a fetlock in the Te Waimate Steeplechase, and Re! Hussar was put down after : fracturing h<s radius bone just i before the Cochrane Handicap
