Young Quinn draws well
NZPA staff correspondent Montreal The New Zealand pacer, Young Quinn, recovered from a minor foot problem, will run again today in a $20,000 free-for-all in Chicago. The field has drawn six starters, with Young Quinn getting a good barrier position for a change. . The gelding will go from the No. 2 position, just outside Rambling Willie, which will be the toughest in the race to beat. , Young Quinn ran sixth recently in Columbus, Ohio, but was lame in a front foot after the race. His trainer, Charlie Hunter, thought a nail placed too close to a tender part of the horse’s hoof might have caused the problem. But he now thinks the lameness might have been due to bruising in the sole of the foot.
“He’s very well in himself and is not showing any signs of soreness,” Hunter said. “But we’ve only been able to give him light exercise this past week and he might be a little short of fast work. “But I still feel he’ll race well and if he does and again next week he’ll be back to his form of a few weeks ago by the time we go to Toronto later this month.” The field for the race is: Rambling Willie (1), Young Quinn (2), Fly Fly Solly (3), Pacing Boy (4), Rusty Knight (5), Saunder’s Perilous (6). Hunter, wfio is working nine other horses at Sportsman’s Park, Chicago, drove Yankee Paul to a threelengths win in the horse’s s American debut last Thursjday night in a time of 2min. i The New Zealand-bred, a i three-year-old in New Zealand last season, is likely to [be sold soon.
