M. Doyle’s 58km road cycle race
Mike Doyle won the Hornby Cash Cycling Club’s 58km road race at Southbridge on Saturday but only by 10m from Clayton Yaxley, who was off the same handicap. Bad weather on Saturday morning and a time trial at Dunedin which attracted many of the riders expected to compete at Southbridge, forced the organisers to reduce the distance from 76km to 58km. With eight kilometres to cycle, Doyle. Yaxley Brian Roulstori and Rav Craig from the four minute and a half mark caught the limit riders and two kilometres from the finish the limit group dropped off leaving the (break men to contest the finish.
